Week 2, Wednesday

[Come to confession, Hilda. Shiro has been dealing with shitposts all day, so a change in pace would be nice.]

[ she may be fantasy catholic, but she's not very pious—mostly the sign gets her attention because it's... interesting? it's interesting. ]

I'm sure you've been asked this already, but do you really think this might work?

[ she sounds genuinely curious. ]

No one's going to admit to that kind of stuff just because you ask nicely.

It probably won't work, but 'probably' doesn't mean 'definitely'. I'd like to give everyone a chance though. Killing someone, it's a heavy burden. And I'm sure whoever did it had their reasons. So having a place to talk about it without a fear of everyone else finding out might encourage them to come forward.

I'm more interested in finding out 'why' and trying to stop further murders than in some misguided notion of 'justice'. So, a confessional it is.

That's... generous. [ naive? she looks dubious, but when she gets close enough her emotions are more amused, a little endeared at the thought, even if her own feelings are less optimistic. ] But honestly? I agree. I don't think we're going to make it very far if we're caught up trying to get an eye for an eye.

[ there is a thread of something more somber though, as her memories drift backward. ]

You were pretty upset about Kano though, weren't you? I thought you'd be more angry at whoever went around killing people on Saturday.

I'm more upset at him for pulling that stunt he did. I can understand why he did it, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

And I'll be angry if I found out people were killing just because they wanted to. But from what I've heard here, people might be coerced into killing. And someone killing under those circumstances is something I can sympathize with.

[ kids these days. speaking of, hilda listens along, nodding agreeably. ]

Honestly, I have no idea why Kano did what he did. I don't get it at all. [ kano's actions are a total mystery to her, even as she watched it all go down. ] Buuuut... I think I could tell you a little more about what happened to the other two.

[ for all that people have been pulling his leg today, hilda doesn't actually sound like she's joking. ]

Odds are that he wouldn't explain even if someone asked. That kid has some pretty unique ways of thinking about things.

[Unique, frustrating ways.

He does seem interested at the rest though, and he nods.]

Sure. What do you know about them?

[ Hilda just smiles a little ruefully at that, sad. It's a little too late to ask Kano anyway.

At least they still have time to talk about this. Though she holds up a finger, wagging it a little. ]

Nope—not so fast, your priestliness. How do I know I can trust you? I'm ready to spill my heart out, but I need a little incentive.

[ She ponders for a moment, thinking up a show of faith. ]

How about... you tell me what team you're on? If you haven't hit your weekly limit already.

[Ah. Information for information, then.]

You'll have to tell me what the weekly limit is, because I have shared it this week already but I wasn't aware of a limit.

[ sorry father, she's not the type to give anything away for free. ]

It's three, apparently. I haven't tried to see what happens if you go over the limit, and I'm not keen on finding out.

Week 2, post-trial

[lionson]

[After that trial, he needs a drink. And yes, he's stepping around the mess in the pub to loot some booze.]

At least I still have this vice to indulge in-

[ she waves from where she's sitting on a counter somewhere, armed with a bottle of wine. ]

Hey there.

[ she smiles, good-natured, though her voice has a tired edge to it. ]

Are holy men even allowed to step foot in places like this? Isn't it a den of sin or whatever?

[lionson]

God forgives all who repent, and I can repent tomorrow. Besides, it's not my first time hanging around bars. God should just be happy that I'm not on the hunt for floozies.

[axecessory]

[ she laughs a little. god's standards of good behavior must be relative. ]

Oh, I like that. Does that mean I can indulge in a little vice so long as I'm really good about praying in the morning?

[lionson]

Yep! That's what praying for forgiveness is for.

Though I'd say, indulge in vices that don't hurt others. Those are easier to forgive.

[axecessory]

I bet they are.

[ it goes without saying, really. her faith is different, but of course the core tenants of being good unto others, that killing is wrong—that's all the same. her expression softens a little. ]

But do you forgive those vices anyway?

[ has he forgiven shima? ]

[lionson]

I forgive the vices if the person who did them is looking for forgiveness.

[He has not forgiven Shima yet, no. Because Shima isn't asking for forgiveness yet.]

I'm sure some people just feel too guilty to ask forgiveness.

[ it's backwards and she doesn't relate, but people are weird like that. ]

Some people probably do. But they need to learn that skill. To err is human, and saying 'I'm sorry' is a skill everyone needs.

Can't disagree with that.

[ hilda doesn't have any issues apologizing when she needs to. it makes everyone involved feel better, herself included.

anyway, she's pouring herself a glass. ]

...I'll let him ask for forgiveness on his own time. How are you doing? [ she may not be a goddess, here to listen to his repentance, but she's listening. ]

w3, thursday

[ after embarrassing herself in front of literally everyone, hilda is now hiding away in the nurse's office. she's got her shoulder bandaged up neatly by now, just messing idly with a pill bottle as she apparently wiles some time away.

her expression is a little distant, but she smiles a little wryly when she spots him. ]

Hoping for a confession today, Shiro?

[lionson]

[Shiro is admittedly a little distracted on Thursday, and he almost misses Hilda at first when he goes to the nurse's office. It's her voice that catches his attention, and he looks up to her. The pensive look is quickly replaced by a smile as he offers her a wave.]

I'm always here for anyone who needs to confess. But you might need medical attention instead of spiritual comfort.

What, this?

[ she rolls her shoulder and winces, though honestly? she looks fine. ]

I'll grit my teeth and bear the pain, it's okay... From what I hear, the other group got off way worse.

[lionson]

Yeah, Rufus' hands were...melted, I guess.

[It was gross.]

But they were taken care of already, so now it's your turn.

Melted?

[ she gawks a little at that, making a face before she touches her bandages. ]

This place is honestly too much sometimes. Our group didn't run into too much danger, but... things really got weird.
